External Project - Portakabin LTD.

During my second year of study, we were given a project by modular manufactures Portakabin Ltd. The brief was to design a 3m x 3m x 3m modular space. My concept was inspired from my recent trip to Shanghai and Beijing. I designed EStudy, which is an eco-friendly, multi use and adaptable study space. The EStudy is fitted with a rain catching system and powered with solar panels and photovoltaic window/doors. Sustainability was key to this design with the interior being developed with a peg and hole design for shelving units and the desk. Materials that were utilized also continued with the theme with bamboo and cork due to their durable qualities. Ultimately EStudy is adaptable which gives customers/clients flexibility in terms of usage of the space. The space could be used as a personal study, display space, meeting office for small scale businesses etc. I was one of the final six shortlisted for commendation and received a final grade mark of 82% for this module.
